“I don't have to force myself; it's simply something I enjoy now.” – Robin’s story

Discover how having a structured plan changed Robin’s relationship with fitness for good.

Robin led an active lifestyle, and he knew strength training had a place in his routine. But without a specific goal to work toward, his attempts to add it never really stuck. Joining the Freeletics Transformation Challenge wasn't about becoming a different person; it was about breaking this start-stop cycle, building a routine he could actually stick to, and finally seeing results.

Here's what five months of structured training, nutrition, and recovery did for Robin's everyday life.

“My general focus had always been more on conditioning. I always knew that some type of strength training was important for overall fitness and health.

And I’ve even tried to start a fitness journey on my own a couple of times. However, I never really had clear goals to work toward, so I struggled to stay consistent with going to the gym and building strength.

And even though I considered myself pretty athletic, I had never focused much on my nutrition – I saw a lot of potential there.

My goal heading into the Challenge was to develop a routine that incorporates healthy nutrition and consistent strength training into my existing conditioning focus.”

Choosing to commit

“I had started fitness journeys before, but somehow I never truly followed through. I would stay consistent for a while, then life would get busy, my motivation would fade, and I'd slowly fall back into old habits.

And if I am being honest, traditional strength training had never been something I genuinely enjoyed. But I had heard from several friends that Freeletics approached fitness differently – that the workouts were challenging but actually fun, and that the program didn't just focus on training, but also on nutrition and recovery.

That really caught my attention. I wanted to experience the whole journey and finally commit to something from start to finish. More than just improving my physique, I wanted to prove to myself that I could become someone who follows through, even when it's inconvenient or difficult.

Of course, I wanted to improve my physique, to build more muscle, reduce body fat, and become stronger. But that wasn't my only goal. I wanted to build habits that would actually last. I wanted healthy eating, regular workouts, and recovery to become part of my lifestyle instead of something I only did when I felt motivated.”

Having doubts before day one

“My first doubt was whether the Challenge would actually create lasting change. Five months sounds like a long time, but in the grand scheme of things, it really isn't. I was worried that it might just be an extremely intensive program where I'd get great results, but as soon as it ended, everything would slowly go back to the way it was before. I didn't just want a short-term transformation – I wanted habits that would stay with me.

My second concern was how it would affect my social life. The Challenge requires a real commitment. You can't simply eat out whenever you want, enjoy a few drinks on the weekend, or skip workouts because life gets busy. I was afraid I'd have to say no to friends more often and that the Challenge would become a big restriction on my everyday life.

And of course, there was always that little voice in my head reminding me that I'd started fitness journeys before without following through. I wondered if this time would really be any different.”

When things got hard

“Honestly, the first month was tough. Of course, my whole body was sore all the time, but the hardest part wasn't physical – it was mental. Every single day, you have to make the right decision again and again, without making excuses.

What really helped was the incredible community. The coaches and the other participants were so supportive, and it felt great to talk to people who were going through the same challenges. That made a huge difference.”

When it all came together

“After a while, something just clicked. I felt stronger than ever before, and instead of feeling exhausted after workouts, they actually gave me more energy. Once I experienced that feeling, staying consistent became so much easier, and I was able to follow through until the very end.

The biggest change is that healthy habits have become part of my daily routine without thinking about it. I don't have to force myself to work out or eat healthy anymore – it's simply something I enjoy now. I've also become much more aware of how much nutrition, sleep, and recovery affect not only my performance but also my energy and mood throughout the day.

I felt more productive at work, slept better, and was generally in a much better mood.”

The ripple effect

“Every single person who noticed my transformation immediately wanted to know what I had done – and many of them said they wanted to try the program themselves.

What made me even happier, though, was seeing people around me get inspired. A few friends started working out more consistently after following my journey, and some even joined Freeletics themselves. It made me realize that taking care of yourself can have a positive impact on the people around you as well.”

Crossing the finish line

“Did I achieve my goal? Absolutely! The results were amazing. Not only did I feel stronger than ever before, but I also built habits that I know will last. The biggest achievement was finding a way to integrate training, nutrition, and recovery into my everyday life. Even after the Challenge ended, I was able to stay committed because these habits had become part of my routine, not just part of a five-month program.

And I also felt sad! I was sad that it was over. I had gotten so used to the routine, the community, and the shared journey that I didn't want it to end. I genuinely miss everyone and would have loved for it to continue. But of course, at the same time, I felt incredibly proud. Looking back at where I started, staying committed for the entire five months, and seeing everything I had achieved was an amazing feeling.

I just want to keep going. The Challenge gave me everything I need – from effective workouts to nutrition plans that I know work for me. There are no excuses anymore like, “I don't know which exercises are good,” or “I don't know how to eat healthy.” I already have the knowledge and the routine. Now it's simply about continuing what I've started.

That said, I'll definitely enjoy a pizza now and then when I feel like it – it's all about finding a healthy balance that I can maintain for the long run.”

My advice: Just start.

“You'll never feel 100% ready, and you don't need to be. Trust the process, especially in the beginning. The first few weeks are the hardest, but at some point, something clicks. You start feeling stronger, you have more energy, and the healthy habits become part of your everyday life.

Most importantly, don't try to be perfect. Just stay consistent. The results will come.”
