Fitness had always been a part of Jan’s life, but consistency and nutritional know-how kept him from achieving the results he’d always dreamed of. Motivated by the inspiring transformations he’d seen, Jan encouraged his wife, Kim, to join him in taking the leap – swapping takeout and convenience for a complete lifestyle overhaul and the pursuit of becoming their strongest, healthiest selves. Here’s his story:

“Fitness has always been a roller coaster for me. In the winter, we’re in a close relationship – but in the summer, not so much! I’ve always enjoyed working out, especially cardio like spin class, running, and the StairMaster.

Lifting weights, on the other hand, was something I tended to avoid, mostly out of convenience, or maybe also because it was something I wasn’t used to.

I’d been following Freeletics for years and was always impressed by the incredible transformations I saw. When my wife, Kim, mentioned the Transformation Challenge, I thought, “Why not do this together?” The idea of learning more about fitness and nutrition while building new habits as a couple sounded perfect.

For me, this was about breaking out of that convenience cycle and becoming a better version of myself. I also wanted to gain muscle, lose weight (especially the fat around my waist), and learn more about nutrition.

Not gonna lie, I thought if this ended with a six-pack (abs, not beers from the supermarket), that would be amazing! For Kim and me, our biggest hesitation was food. We weren’t sure how we’d handle the meal plans or whether we’d get too ‘hangry’. But in the end, we decided to go for it –  and we’re so glad we did.”

Shift in body and mind

“As I progressed through the Transformation Challenge, my relationship with fitness grew even stronger. I’ve always liked working out, but now on days when I don’t train, it actually feels strange – I genuinely miss it. At the same time, I’ve learned how important recovery is for my body.

But the biggest change so far has been seeing how my body has transformed – and other people have noticed too and are impressed by the progress.

In addition, my mindset towards exercise has shifted significantly. I’ve realized how important fitness is for me – it gives me more energy throughout the day, and that feeling is amazing.“

From love birds to early birds

“From day one, the Challenge pushed us both out of our comfort zone. We became early birds, training together with the group in the mornings. I think doing the Transformation Challenge as a couple was a great decision, with only advantages in my opinion.

We motivated each other during the tough moments and grew closer emotionally and mentally.

Continuing to work out consistently and being thoughtful about what we eat – especially learning more about nutrition – has helped us live a healthier lifestyle that has only had a positive impact.”

Results I’ve always dreamed of

“Halfway through the Transformation Challenge, I already felt leaner and stronger. By the end, I had achieved the goals I set: more muscle, less fat, better routines, and a whole new mindset about health.

I’m genuinely so happy with the results. What’s even better is that fitness has become something normal and natural in my life. I just love it!

The diet has helped me a lot in understanding nutrition better, and I believe it has also improved my sleep, which means I have more energy throughout the day.

I couldn’t be happier or prouder of what I’ve accomplished. I realized – and it really confirmed for me – that when I truly believe in something, I can achieve it, even if it seems very challenging at first.

Mentally, this experience has made me stronger, and it has also boosted my self-confidence.”

My advice: believe in yourself

“There will be moments when you think it's impossible to push through, but if you stay strong, disciplined, and keep believing, you can do it – whether on your own or as a couple.”
