Truth # 3: Greatness is tough but worth it

Header Copy 9

We will never tell you it’s gonna be easy. But what we will tell you is that it’s gonna be worth every damn second you put into it. Greatness will never be a smooth, straight road. At it’s best it’s an uphill climb. Every step will leave you hanging off the edge and doubting if the next one is physically possible.

But why does it have to be like this? Why can’t it be easy? Because struggle and hardship is something every great person goes through. Michael Jordan, arguably the greatest basketball player of all time once said “I have missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games. On 26 occasions I have been entrusted to take the game winning shot… and I missed. I have failed over and over again in my life. And this is the reason I succeeded.”

You will think about giving in. Over and over again the thought will cross your mind. All this time spent suffering and for what? Is it really worth it? We say, hell yes. Greatness is tough. There’s no sugar coating it. But unless your goal takes hundreds, thousands of hours and draws liters, buckets of sweat trying to even come close to, then it’s not worth it.

So sure, it’s easy to give in to the voice in your head. It’s simple to throw in the towel and step away at that moment in time. But living with the constant regret, being unsatisfied with your life, knowing that you had the chance to finally start living it with purpose, but you chose to walk away: Take our word for it, this is nothing compared to a little pain.

Pain is not failure. As long as you never quit, you will never fail.

Now you know 3, there is one truth left. Ready for the missing puzzle piece? Truth #4 coming next week.
