“I used to feel powerless, now I feel powerful” - Belinda’s story

Belinda Header

Belinda was 24 when she realized that she wasn’t happy and that a big reason for this was her body. A busy student, she didn’t have the time or energy to dedicate to training and felt powerless to change her body and make herself happy. She wanted to change not just physically, but mentally too and was ready to do what it took to become a better version of herself. This is her story.

At the time, I felt powerless and lost like I was in a hole and couldn’t get out of it. I was fed up with being miserable and sad - I wanted to be happy and satisfied with my life. I knew that getting up and showing everybody what I could do would be hard work, but I was ready to do what it took.

Freeletics was perfect for me. It was a change that came at exactly the right time in my life. I trained four times a week without fail and, after a while, I even started to enjoy it. Over time, I noticed that my mood was improving, I was less tired and I even became an early riser. Every day, I wake up at 6am to train before starting the day. Having this discipline is a big reason behind the achievements I’ve made; it’s a discipline that I’ve adopted in other areas of my life too.

I look forward to training now. I’ve noticed that people are pointing out the positive changes in my body to me and this motivates me to keep going, along with knowing how good training makes me feel. No matter how difficult the training is, I keep pushing myself through it and never give up. I knew that I didn’t want to be the old version of me any more and I was ready to work hard to see the changes I wanted to see. I’m incredibly proud of myself and the progress I’ve made. I’ve already lost 10kg, gained toned muscle and lost a lot of weight from my upper arms which was a big thing for me! I’ve never been so happy in myself.

I recently saw some pictures from before my Freeletics transformation and I honestly didn’t recognize myself. So much has changed since then and all of it for the better. I’ve learnt that I’m capable of a lot more than I thought I was, that failure isn’t something to be scared of and that, no matter what path I take, I can accomplish anything I set my mind to. The most important takeaway from this experience for me is that change is possible; I’m a completely new person now and a far better one at that. I love my life right now and nobody can take that away from me.

Inspired by Belinda’s story? Anyone can make the decision to become a better version of themselves, but it takes guts to follow it through.
