Simple ways to make your office your gym

XINGEX HEAD

Think your work and workout have to be separate? Think again. In our busy working lives, it can be difficult to find time to train, but no matter how much you do, every bit of exercise counts.

And you don’t even need a gym to train; get creative! With desks, chairs and walls, the office space around you is actually the perfect training ground.

Why should you train during the day?

In short, every little helps. It doesn’t matter how much you do, any movement will contribute to improving your overall fitness and condition. And don’t worry about squeezing everything into one set; breaking a workout down into bite-sized five minute chunks is just as effective as doing all of your exercise sets in one go.

If you’re new to training, doing something small at work can help ease you into regular physical activity. Starting with basic, office-friendly exercises can also help you to establish exercise as a regular habit. Once you start seeing the positive benefits, it will increase your motivation to want to train more seriously.

But it doesn’t end there. By taking short breaks to exercise and get your heart pumping, you’re keeping your mind healthy too. Think of it as pressing the reset button on your mind; a burst of activity will leave you refreshed and ready to take on your next tasks head on.

So what exercises should you squeeze into your office workout?

In short, get imaginative! Try tricep dips using your desk, wall sits against your office wall, Squats as you write emails or quick Pushup breaks while you wait for your coffee. Almost any bodyweight exercise you can think of can be done in an office environment, you just need to get creative.

Office Workout Challenges

Want to take your work day exercises to the next level? Make it a company-wide challenge. Pullups, Squats and Planks are all office friendly and require minimal equipment.

A Pullup bar is a simple and affordable piece of equipment that can be easily installed in any office space. But what if you don’t have space? Well, you don’t necessarily need equipment for a five minute challenge. Pushups, Planks and Squats can all be done right by your desk, so you don’t even need to take your mini-workout out of the office.

Let’s recap:

When it comes to exercising during the working day, let your imagination run wild. There are #NoExcuses to stop training just because you’re busy - every bit makes all the difference.
